In the heart of Philadelphia, Reverend Dr. Wilbur D. Winborne Sr. serves as a pastor, teacher, and educator, radiating inspiration and motivation to people of all ages, creeds, and colors. From the pulpit to the pews, the classroom to the community, Rev. Winborne is a true "people person," warmly embracing individuals to impart knowledge, wisdom, and encouragement.
As the guiding force behind the historic Nineteenth Street Baptist Church, Rev. Winborne’s ministry is more than a role—it’s a calling. His journey of faith began within the church's sacred walls, where he first found solace in Christ. Under the mentorship of the late Rev. Charles Walker, he discovered his purpose, leading to his licensing and ordination. This calling expanded into a 17-year tenure of dedicated service at Bethlehem Baptist Church in Woodbury, NJ, before returning to his spiritual roots at Nineteenth Street Baptist Church.
A lifelong learner and educator, Rev. Winborne earned a B.S. in Business Administration from St. Joseph University, a Master’s Degree in Divinity from the Conservative Baptist Seminary of the East, and a Doctor of Ministry Degree from Bethel Seminary in 2014. His educational journey began at Larchwood SDA School, laying the foundation for his passion for learning and his commitment to the principle of "each one, teach one." This principle continues to guide him as he seamlessly transitioned from the classroom as a student to the classroom as a teacher.
At Cornerstone Christian Academy, he inspired young minds as a technology teacher, leaving a lasting impact. As a financial literacy and technology teacher at Preparatory Charter High School, he equips students with the tools to understand and master money, preparing them for financial success.
Family is at the core of Rev. Winborne’s life. Married to Rosa, they are proud parents of three accomplished adult children and a cherished daughter-in-love. They are also blessed with two beautiful granddaughters. Their children are thriving in the fields of music, education, and accounting.
As a mentor and leader, Rev. Winborne is dedicated to empowering others through seminars on leadership, pastoral well-being and self-care, financial literacy, and the art of expository preaching. Beyond his professional roles, he finds joy in sports, values the discipline of the gym, enjoys healthy cooking, and thrives in the art of connecting with new people.
Rev. Winborne’s commitment to ministry and missions reflects his heart for serving both local and global communities. He has been deeply involved with America’s Keswick, Africa Inland Missions, and New Hope Philly, contributing to advancing the Gospel and providing support to those in need.
Rev. Winborne’s life is a tapestry of faith, family, and service, reflecting his devotion to the Lord and his passion for making a difference in the lives of those he serves.
